Our Lab Valentines: FLICA 660 is red, Hoechst stain is blue...

Wishing our customers and colleagues a sweet Valentine's Day from ICT!

Observed on February 14 in the United States and other countries, St. Valentine's Day is now associated with the expression of romantic love and friendship (see Wikipedia for the whole story). Its history and traditions don't have much to do with immunoassays or apoptosis detection (obviously), but since those are the research focuses of ImmunoChemistry Technologies, we take the opportunity to show our appreciation for the individuals who keep our office and lab running.

Among others, here are a few Valentine's Day cards I designed to share with ICT staff today.

FLICA 660 is red
Hoechst stain is blue
chocolate is sweet
and so are you
-EMC

BTW, FLICA® 660 is our newest type of FLICA® caspase assays, utilizing a far-red fluorescent label for in vitro caspase and apoptosis detection: see http://tinyurl.com/FLICA-Kits for more info.

A brief ode to our laboratory production and research associates who toil arduously in the lab:

synblock is clear
fam flica is green
with either research tool
you're an R&D machine
-EMC

For our customers using our cell death and apoptosis detection products:

FAM FLICA is green
SR FLICA is red
Use these and 7-AAD
To see if cells are dead
- EMC

Does anything rhyme with orange? If you find one, email me!

Lastly, our SR-FLICA® caspase assays utilize an orange-red fluorescent label, sulforhodamine B. Its emission maximum is at 590-600 nm, so it could be considered more orange than true red. So I also wrote the following little tongue-in-cheek poem, which makes more sense when read after the others:

fam flica is green
sr flica is red-orange
ICT has great caspase assays....
but nothing rhymes with orange
-EMC
